Meet Douglas...
Doug began his real estate appraisal career with the Province of New Brunswick, Department of Municipal Affairs, Assessment Branch in 1969. From 1969 to 1973, he was employed as a Property Tax Assessor in their Woodstock and Hampton offices. In 1973, Doug went to work for Revenue Canada - Taxation in their Saint John office as a Senior Real Estate Appraiser developing tax related appraisals.
In 1980, he entered the private fee appraisal business, operating out of offices in Hampton, Fairvale and Woodstock. In 1993, Doug merged his offices with those of de Stecher Appraisals Ltd. operating from Saint John where he has been developing appraisals on a wide variety of predominantly non-residential type properties.
In recent years, Doug has had the occasion to have participated in numerous appraisals relating to the conveyance of properties and the more recent conveyance of partial interests or Conservation Easements as Ecogifts. Doug has also participated in a number of appraisals involving the leasing of drill sites and acquisition of pipeline easements relating to the recent exploration of natural gas within the province.
